and yes i felt sick as hell all day afterwards because i havent been eating heavy greasy stuff
but the did taste so good and crunchy on the outside fluffy in the middle

Did you make the pancakes first and then deep fry them?
I sometimes make whole grain almost-vegan blueberry/blackberry pancakes when we have special guests.
Like when particularly nice band people crash over and aren't in a hurry to leave the next day.
I usually put vanilla in them, and I have some molassas..gee..I never concidered the prospect of deep frying them..hmmm.. -

Wed, April 6, 2005 - 9:16 AMi put about a 1/4 inch of oil in the frying pan and let it get really hot. you should always let your oil get really hot. thats what makes it crispy and avoids the oil sog.
when you see little bubbles on the botton of the pan start to form its ready to go.
and then i just pored the batter in to make silver dollar size cakes.
this HAS to be some sort of a perverted british recipe.
i bet powdered sugar would be good on them
or potato/onion pancakes....
just have a bunch of paper towels or coffee filter down to drain the oil off them/
