I suppose part of recovery would be looking at water intake.

Especially for me, loving coffee, soda and beer.

water and wine is the way to go!

Perhaps - get some lemon juice and maple syrup for the water. mmmm

In our culture water can be the hardest to get enough of yet it IS the most important biochemical needed to operate the human body! Food is broken down with the aid of water = hydrolization.

I know this, I feel mucho better after even 1 full glass of h2o yet I drink 5 cups of strong Coffee every am, juice through the day (sugar high) & maybe a glass of wine in pm. It's not til bedtime I drink water than I get up 3-5 times to pee at night!
Duhhhh, & I do know better....

Taking a Potassium supplement will trigger the thirst mechanism reflex in the brain. 2 days & you thirst for water......

    TOTALLY.
i have sworn off coffee and soda and everything else but water.
i notice i drink way more water than the amt of beverages that i would/could drink in the past.
just be prepared for headaches if you do this.
caffine headache mixed with weather induced headache today...
    ughhhhhhhhhhhhh
but my joints feel better, i can taste food better, and my stomach doesnt hurt like it used to. it actually doesnt hurt at all.

i did this water thing to prep for a total cleanse. i am going to be doing the lemonade diet. i posted this in another tribe:

Good luck with your master cleanse. I have been meaning to attempt that again myself. The last time I tried it, it was
kind of a disaster. I have deplorable willpower.

I try to drink lots and lots of water, but sometimes I forget. I don't think i am yet willing to give up my coffee in the morning. I could maybe switch to half-decaf...but that's as far as I'll go. I dread the caffine headache.

how long did you make it on the cleanse?
did you get sick at all?
        why did you quit?
yeh as far as the coffee....it seems like you drink alot more than i do....and the headache i have right now..well i took 4 advil and it still pings.
        ughhhhh
i think its the weather front coming in too....
i want to pop out my right eye.

I did a hardcore liver/colon cleanse a few years back and it was amazing. It was when my (ex)wife was working at an acupunture clinic/herb store.

The whole process was intense..... raw food at first.. then just liquids.... (wish I still had that juicer) then just water. At the end I thought I was literally going to die. But after we made it through - I felt like a new man. It was an incredible experience.

Of course, since then I have progressively destroyed my pattern of healthy eating and am also using more drugs than I used to. I am probably way more toxic now than I was before the cleanse.

I could definately use another cleanse. Thanks for the link.

I made it for about four days on the cleanse, then I got very premenstrual and irritable and felt like if i didn't eat something I was gonna die or kill someone, plus, We were in a high-stress cycle of juggling a whole bunch of activities that I needed to be in my best mind for, so I broke the fast. Unfortunatly, I did it with a bunch of bad food.
I didn't get physically ill, but I was really irritable and fatigued a few days later. I think that had more to do with all the stuff we were doing that weekend...I have read somewhere that it is better to fast when you are not simultaneously dealing with a bunch of high stress-energy requiring activities.

I really would like to try again soon. Perhaps sometime this month. I have a buddy who occasionally fasts, but only for a few days at a time, and he tends to cheat. I don't know whether that is better than not fasting at all.

As far as coffee goes, I do drink it every day, but I don't drink it all day long like some folks I know...(my dad and assorted co-workers) I am happy with one big good mug in the morning...but sometimes I will have a cup at night...(likesay if there is a show happening at my venue and I am feeling fatigued)

I started the MC last week, but only lasted 3 days...it was hard to stay on when feeding the kiddos - next time I need to plan a bit better!

Even with the short run, I could see improvement. I have been transitioning out of MC with raw foods and feel great...I can really tell the diff (short term) if I eat something my body doesn't like. I grabbed a fresh fruit/yogurt/granola cup at the snack bar (healthiest thing they had) on my way to class Wed night, and was soo tired in an hour from the sugar high then drop. Put cow's milk in my coffee this am and was almost instantly congested. I plan on trying MC again the end of May when school gets out!

add a dash of cayenne, and you've got MC lemonade! FYI, grade B maple syrup is cheaper and has more nutritional value than grade A - check your health food store.

I love my coffee too - switched to 1/2 caff and now sometimes drink mate instead

Yeah..on my next coffee purchase I will switch to half caffinated.
Really need to re-up my mate supply and not keep it in a place where everyone can get at it.

Also need to focus on drinking more water.
I generally drink alot..since I don't drink sodas and don't like iced tea...(unless it is herbal)..but still don't quite think I get enough.
When i think about it, I have a tendancy to cram my water...drink a whole bunch in a short period of time to make sure i get enough. Especially at work where there is a nice water cooler to leach from.
I don't know how healthy it is..then I have to pee every 5 minutes..
Does help wid the constimipation though when my diet has been particularly cheese-laden.
