there is this jar of leftover frosting in my refridgerator.... I'm one of those people who likes to lick frosting off the cake. I keep taking spoonfuls of it once or twice a day, which wouldn't be THAT bad except I think it's pure hydrogenated oil. But it is so yummy.
Question is, what can I do to resist? Is there anything I could eat that would possibly replace the yummy butteryness of duncan hines frosting?? The only thing I can think of is having an avocado for lunch... but that just isn't the same.

Butter frosting is really easy to make, so you don't have to eat processed gak, but it's not particularly good for you. Neither is what I use, but at least you can make it and still feel great about youself.
Put two tablespoons of water in a small bowl. Sprinkle a single package of unflavored Knox gelatin on the water, allow to stand for 1 minute to soften gelatin. Add 1/4 cup of boiling water; stir until gelatin is disolved and clear. Set aside and allow to cool a bit. In a large mixing bowl (make sure the bowl is at least room temp or cooler) stir together one cup of sugar and a half cup of cocoa. Add in two cups (one pint) of heavy whipping cream, and two teaspoons of vanilla extract. Beat by hand or with mixer, scraping the bottom of the bowl occasionally, until stiff. Mix in gelatin until well blended and fluffy. Refrigerate for at least a half hour.
Congratulate yourself, you just made chocolate mousse'. You're way classier than some grubby icing eater, and it may not be healthy, but it's much healthier than what you've been eating. In addition, you just made more than you need to eat and you have chocolate mousse' to give to someone else, so now you're about to become a hero. Ain't life grand!
Easy Chocolate Mousse:
1 pkg unflavored gelatin
2 tablspoons cold water
1/4 cup boiling water
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup cocoa
2 cups (1 pint) heavy whipping cream (cold)
2 teaspoons vanillia extract
